Italy: in Perugia on 28 April Cheese Festival begins

In Perugia, from April 28 to May 1, the annual festival of cheese Ditecheese! (“Say cheese!”) will take place.

Italians adore cheese, according to statistics, each Italian consumes 23 kg of cheese per year. The total amount they spend on cheese each year, is more than 21 billion Euros.

Italy: the pilgrims will have to pay to ascend the Scala Santa

To ascend Scala Santa in Rome, the pilgrims will have to pay 1 Euro, reports the Guardian.

Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) are the marble steps of the old Lateran palace, now nonexistent.

According to the legend, the stairs were brought in 326 from Jerusalem by Holy Helena, as it was taken from the palace of Pontius Pilate, and Jesus Christ went up the staircase to the court.
